Frequently Asked Questions About PTR

We are a Wyoming non-profit corporation, and would like to become a 501c3, and continue devoting time, love and effort into the dogs that come through here - loving them, making sure they're healthy, working on behavioral issues, and, most of all, finding their perfect forever family.
Although specific licensing in Wyoming is not required, we are completely in compliance with all local and state laws governing small animal rescue.
All the dogs here are crated to eat and to sleep at night. During the day they are in the house with us, out in the yard with us, or in very large kennels outside for potty time. One of the advantages of having a home-based rescue is the dogs actually live and interact in a home environment. We believe this makes the transition to an adoptive home easier, as well as helps improve the behavior of the dogs.
Yes, always. We give our own DA2PP (Distemper, Adenovirus. Parvo and Parainfluenza) shots and we do our own worming. Our vet gives all dogs old enough their rabies shot. We keep very good records of everything given to each dog, a copy of which is sent home with the adopter(s).
You can read our adoption and spay/neuter policy HERE.
Our adoption application can be found HERE.
Of course! You are more than welcome to visit us - we would love to meet you and we're quite sure the pups here would also love the visit. All we ask is that you give us a bit of notice. Because this is a home-based operation, we do not have set 'business hours'. The upside of this is we can easily accomodate evening and weekend visits! You can contact us at support@pawsitivetailsrescue.org or by calling 307-401-0306.
Yes, we do! You can see all of our adoptable dogs HERE.
Our adoption fees range from $125 to $200, excluding adoption specials, and include age-appropriate vaccinations, worming, microchip and spay/neuter. If, due to age or health reasons, a dog cannot be spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, a spay/neuter deposit equal to what our vet would charge for a spay/neuter will be required. This deposit will be refunded upon proof of spay or neuter.
